But at least I'm able to retain my accustomed cynicism, knowing that most Americans, despite their prattling jingoism, STILL do not accept the precepts put forth in the Declaration of Independence.
I was possibly going to make a post about how has anyone noticed that WVs are getting much more ... wordy? I've noticed that in the past couple of days.
I'm trying not to totally unSPOOL about it (if we're going with using our word verification results; mine was 'spool'). I figure there will come a day within my lifetime when the majority of USians look back on this and wonder how the dark ages could've been so recent. But yeah, for the people whose marriages got invalidated today it's a total disaster and an outrage.
"The exit polls showed that the one-third of Tuesday's voters who attended church weekly supported the measure by an overwhelming 84 percent to 16 percent, compared with the 83 percent opposition from the one-fifth of voters who said they never attend religious observances." -SF Chronicle, 11/6/08
Gosh, I wonder what conclusion we might draw from this?
Apparently some of the churches were getting their congregations to vote yes by telling them that NO ONE would be able to marry in church otherwise as 'the gays' would sue churches that refused to marry them. You know, the way divorced catholics sue the catholic church all the time for refusing to marry them in church.
This is late; I'm behind on the blog-reading, but:
EXACTLY.
I've been meaning to make basically this exact same post since then. Except it would probably be wordier. I'm nothing if not completely unable to be succinct.

I dunno, man, I genuinely thought we had it this time. I'd say "But at least..." but no, I got nothing. I still think the day is coming, though.
OH MY GOD. I just won the word verification lottery!!!!!!

And to tie it in with your actual post, yeah, I know, it's forking ridiculous.
