In other news.

I was thinking to myself recently, "What's the trashiest show I've ever watched on purpose?" And you know what? I'm pretty sure it's Dollhouse.

One of these episodes I'm going to actually manage to stay awake and see the whole thing.

I was determined not to watch that show due to its Whedonosity, but last week I was watching (the sadly disappointing) Terminator and decided to be "too lazy to change the channel". Just, you know, to see.

OH MY LORD IS IT BAD. Like, Bionic Woman bad. I felt like I was watching a rejected Charlie's Angels episode, and let me tell you, Eliza Dushku may be cute, but she is no Jaclyn Smith.

At least now I can continue to snub the show and not worry that I'm missing something good.

Penny Arcade sums up my thoughts:

Except, of course, I will continue to watch it. It has Helo in it!

That article is great. And really, I could expound on that idea that people keep watching Joss Whedon shows out of some weird Buffy-loyalty, and all the problems with that, but ... eh. I don't have time.

Poor Helo, though. Poor pretty, dumb Helo.

No Jenny, worse than that. It's Wonderfalls bad.

And yes, the acolytes are apparently spinning frantically that the badness is the fault of, well, anyone but the Creator.

My new mantra: Beware of those who, in 2009, still refer to "Joss" like he was someone they know personally.

Surely it is not trashier than True Blood! Or did you only read the recaps of that one?

I watched the whole first season of True Blood!

Here's the thing, I firmly believe that the answer to the question, "Is this on purpose?" is yes. It is trashy, but it's trashy on purpose, and knows it. Which makes it infinitely more enjoyable than things that think they are terribly serious but are, in fact, trashy.

Although Christ Anna Paquin cannot act. Why do people keep giving her awards?

That is a good distinction. And I totally agree - there is no way True Blood could be that trashy by accident.
