I like Twitter. I often have moments where I want to call everyone I know and tell them I'm bored. Twitter let's me do that without actually having to get on the phone.
gatineus? That sounds like a Greek god of some sort. Or an intestinal disease.
Anyway.
Steph & Saren have both recently jumped on the twitter bandwagon.
And EVERYONE in the world seems to have a twitter account, so, a pro, I suppose, is that you could read stuff from your friends that you're currently missing out on.
A con, in my mind, is what I've always said about twitter: Why not just blog the damn stuff instead?
I realize (now) that twitter opens up your words to a *MUCH* wider audience, so that could be either a pro or a con. As a result of that, you're much more likely to get feedback on anything you write.
Another con - Twitter is a stupid name.
And yet another con - it does seem to be rather addictive. (Although that might just be the 'newness' of it in the Spissh household)
A pro (of sorts) - there are some people who write some amazingly funny stuff. (If I were on twitter, I would feel obligated to be amusing, which probably wouldn't work too well)
There are twitter related sites that are kinda neat: See The Longest Poem in the World, which collects tweets that rhyme. And I know that a while back people signed up as characters from The Stand and were tweeting the novel's occurrences. So, there's interesting stuff out there.
The bottom line is: Twitter is a social site. So,I recommend you join (or don't) depending upon how much you enjoy (or don't) interacting with other humans.
Well, I've only been really active with it for a week, so this is my newbie's perspective. (Though I have had an account for a couple of years; I made one tweet and then abandoned it.)
I also recently told you that I started using my facebook account. I got all drawn into that, but facebook is all cluttered with other stuff, whereas twitter is just a bunch of people saying random interesting or funny or whatever things. And sometimes not interesting! Or funny! But that's okay, because it's short and I can just skim over it.
So far I only have a handful of people I follow and that follow me. But I keep adding more because I keep coming across people who I think it would be interesting to hear from and already it seems like it's too much keep up with and too fast for me and I'm not sure how people with huge lists of people that they follow can manage it. A lot of skimming, I guess?
Still, I've already met some awesome new people (including one that will be at the unschooling conference with us next week). (And okay, I do wonder if "met" is a stretch.)
So, in conclusion, as a person who has just begun using two already quite popular things, I would say that so far Twitter has made the internet more interesting and Facebook has merely gotten me hooked on Bejeweled Blitz.
Oh yeah! The other thing that is very important that I forgot to mention is that I think you would make great tweets. They'd all be very cryptic and no one would know what you were talking about.

Pittedat.
That's my word verification, and I think it sums it up my point of view as well.
...actually, that sounds like "pity that" which is not my point of view.
Anyway, get one.
